We are excited to welcome Janet Hise Finan, SWC, MSW, to the team at Dynamic Counseling.
Janet brings more than 15 years of social work experience supporting individuals and families through some of life’s most challenging seasons. Her background spans early childhood services, developmental and intellectual disabilities, hospice care, bereavement support, trauma recovery, and military family support. This breadth of experience allows her to meet clients with compassion, wisdom, and a deep understanding of how life transitions impact mental health. (Dynamic Counseling)
One area we are especially excited to expand is perinatal mental health care.
The Mental Health Challenges Nobody Talks About Enough
Pregnancy and the transition into parenthood are often portrayed as joyful experiences. While they can be, many parents are surprised by the emotional, relational, and psychological challenges that can emerge during this season.
Many mothers experience:
• Anxiety during pregnancy
• Birth trauma
• Postpartum depression
• Postpartum anxiety
• Feelings of isolation or loneliness
• Grief related to fertility struggles, miscarriage, or pregnancy complications
• Identity shifts after becoming a parent
• Relationship stress during the transition to parenthood
These experiences are incredibly common, yet many parents suffer in silence because they believe they should be able to handle it on their own.
The truth is that seeking support during pregnancy and the postpartum period is not a sign of weakness. It is an investment in both parent and child.
Specialized Support for the Fourth Trimester
Janet has a particular passion for supporting families during the perinatal and postpartum period, often referred to as the “fourth trimester.” She understands that bringing a child into the world affects every part of life, including emotional wellbeing, relationships, identity, physical health, and family dynamics. (Dynamic Counseling)
Whether a parent is navigating overwhelming anxiety, struggling to bond with their baby, processing a difficult birth experience, or adjusting to the realities of life after delivery, Janet provides a safe and supportive space for healing and growth.
Her trauma-informed approach recognizes that many postpartum struggles are not simply about sleep deprivation or stress. They often intersect with previous life experiences, unresolved trauma, family history, and the enormous transition that comes with becoming a parent.
Supporting Military Families and Life Transitions
In addition to her work with perinatal mental health, Janet offers specialized support for military members and military families. Drawing from her own experience growing up in a large military family, she understands the unique pressures that service members, spouses, and children often face. (Dynamic Counseling)
Her clinical work also includes helping clients navigate trauma, grief, developmental disabilities, caregiving responsibilities, and major life transitions.
Growing Our Commitment to Family Mental Health
At Dynamic Counseling, we believe mental health care should support individuals and families through every stage of life. Janet’s addition to our team strengthens our ability to serve mothers, fathers, caregivers, teens, and families throughout Colorado who are looking for compassionate, evidence-based support.
Too often, parents wait until they are overwhelmed before reaching out. Our hope is that families know they do not have to struggle alone.
If you are pregnant, recently welcomed a baby, or are finding the transition into parenthood more difficult than expected, support is available.
We are honored to have Janet join our team and look forward to the lives she will impact through her work.
