EMDR and IFS Intensives in Colorado Springs

Deep Therapy Work Without Waiting Months to Get There

Sometimes one hour a week is not enough.

If you are carrying trauma, stuck in old patterns, overwhelmed after a recent crisis, or ready to do deeper therapeutic work, an intensive may be a better fit than traditional weekly therapy.

At Dynamic Counseling, we offer EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy intensives in Colorado Springs for clients who want focused, meaningful therapy in a longer format. Intensives can be scheduled for 2 to 6 hours at a time, or across multiple days for those needing more concentrated support.

Sessions can take place in our office or, when clinically appropriate, as walk-and-talk therapy near Garden of the Gods.

What Is a Therapy Intensive?

A therapy intensive is an extended therapy session designed to help you go deeper than a typical weekly appointment allows.

Instead of spending part of every session catching up, regulating, and then stopping just as the work begins, intensives create more time and space for meaningful processing. This can be especially helpful when you are ready to address a specific trauma, painful relationship pattern, internal conflict, or recent overwhelming event.

Intensives may be helpful if you:

• Feel stuck in weekly therapy
• Want to process trauma with EMDR
• Want to understand and heal different parts of yourself through IFS
• Recently experienced a traumatic or destabilizing event
• Are going through a major life transition
• Feel overwhelmed, anxious, shut down, or disconnected
• Want focused support without stretching the work over many months

EMDR Intensives

EMDR therapy helps the brain reprocess painful or traumatic experiences so they feel less emotionally charged and less present in daily life.

In an EMDR intensive, we may work on a specific memory, recent trauma, fear, body response, or negative belief that continues to feel stuck. The longer format allows time for preparation, grounding, processing, and integration without rushing the work.

EMDR intensives may be especially helpful for:

• Recent trauma
• Anxiety after a distressing event
• Panic or body-based fear responses
• Medical trauma
• Grief or sudden loss
• Childhood trauma
• Relationship wounds
• Negative beliefs such as “I am not safe,” “It was my fault,” or “I cannot handle this”

IFS Intensives

Internal Family Systems therapy helps you understand the different parts of you that carry fear, shame, anger, protection, grief, or pressure to keep functioning.

In an IFS intensive, we slow down and listen to the parts of you that may feel conflicted, overwhelmed, reactive, numb, or stuck. Rather than forcing change, IFS helps you build a more compassionate relationship with your inner world so healing can happen from the inside out.

IFS intensives may be helpful if you:

• Feel pulled in different directions internally
• Have a strong inner critic
• Struggle with shame, people-pleasing, anger, or avoidance
• Feel like one part of you wants change while another part is terrified
• Carry old wounds that still shape your reactions
• Want deeper self-understanding and emotional healing

Week-Long Support After Recent Trauma

After a recent traumatic event, waiting week to week for support can feel unbearable. In some cases, multiple intensives over the course of a week can provide concentrated care during a critical window.

This format can help reduce distress, support nervous system stabilization, process what happened, and prevent painful patterns from becoming more deeply entrenched. The goal is not to rush healing, but to provide enough time and support for your system to begin making sense of what happened.

In-OfficeVirtual,  or Walk-and-Talk Intensives

EMDR and IFS intensives can be held in our Colorado Springs office or, when appropriate, as walk-and-talk therapy near Garden of the Gods.

Some clients prefer the privacy and structure of the therapy office. Others benefit from movement, fresh air, and the grounding effect of nature while doing deep emotional work. Together, we can decide which setting best supports your goals, comfort, and clinical needs.

Is an Intensive Right for You?

An intensive may be a good fit if you are ready for deeper work and want more time than a standard therapy session provides. It may also be helpful if your schedule makes weekly therapy difficult, or if you are facing something that needs more focused attention.

Before scheduling, we will talk through your goals, current symptoms, history, and what type of format would be most supportive. Intensives are customized to the individual and paced carefully so the work feels focused but not overwhelming.
